Herping.org exists for one purpose: to permanently protect habitat by acquiring and preserving rainforest land. Initial funding supports land protection efforts in the Peruvian Amazon through Project Amazonas who will help purchase $275 an Acre, with future expansion planned for Costa Rica.
The Amazonia conservation trip giveaway is a promotional initiative intended to thank
supporters. No donation is required to enter where prohibited by law. Trip value is capped at $2,000 and scheduled for January or February 2027. Specific details, eligibility, and rules will be published separately.

We permanently protect critical rainforest habitat by purchasing and preserving land in biodiversity hotspots.

Reptiles and amphibians depend on intact ecosystems. Protecting habitat ensures their survival for generations.
Your support directly funds rainforest land acquisition and permanent habitat protection for reptiles and amphibians in the Amazon.
The Amazon rainforest is one of the most biodiverse ecosystems on Earth, home to countless species of reptiles, amphibians, and other wildlife. Organizations like Project Amazonas work directly with local communities to protect these ecosystems through education, sustainable development, and conservation efforts. By supporting initiatives that preserve the rainforest, we help ensure these habitats remain protected for generations to come.

Protected rainforest remains intact, free from fragmentation, clearing, and development, allowing native species to live within undisturbed, connected ecosystems.

Healthy rainforest systems support complex food webs, regulate water cycles, and maintain biodiversity. When land remains protected, the entire ecosystem benefits.

Reptiles and amphibians depend on stable, humid, biodiverse environments. Safeguarding habitat ensures these species continue to thrive in the wild, not just in captivity or records.

Conservation is most effective when it lasts. Secured rainforest land remains protected for future generations, preventing habitat loss before it begins.
Deforestation happens quickly, but habitat recovery can take centuries. By protecting rainforest land today, we prevent irreversible loss for the species that depend on it.
